 Information about Canada Border Service Agency & Boaters entering Canada at Welshpool Wharf

 

If you are the owner/operator of a private boat entering Canadian waters, and you are carrying 29 people or fewer, you must report your arrival to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).  Call toll-free to Telephone Reporting Centre (TRC): 1-888-226-7277 (1-888-CANPASS).   There is a phone booth at Welshpool Hall.

 

Only the owner/operator may leave the boat to place the call to the TRC.  Everyone else must remain onboard until the CBSA gives authorization.

 

You will be asked about your trip, passengers, and whether you have any goods to declare. As the owner/operator of the boat, you must collect the information from each passenger onboard and provide it to the TRC.

 

Requirements for non-residents of Canada

• Full name, date of birth and citizenship;

• length and purpose of the stay in Canada;

• destination;

• acceptable identification (for Americans, this includes proof of citizenship or permanent residence status); and visa information, if applicable.

 

Requirements for Canadian citizens or permanent residents

Full name, date of birth and citizenship;

the length of absence from Canada; and

one of the following:

​

• valid Canadian passport,

• enhanced driver's license,

• Permanent Resident Card,

• secure Certificate of Indian Status,

• NEXUS card, or

• Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card for Canadian citizens.

 

Reporting from the water

To report from the location at which you enter Canadian waters, everyone onboard must be a citizen or permanent resident of either Canada or the United States.

If you are visiting Canada, you can report to the TRC from your cellphone from the location at which you enter Canadian waters when you:

• do not intend to land on Canadian soil, and

• will not be leaving any people or goods in Canada.

 

If you are returning to Canada, you can report to the TRC from the location at which you enter Canadian waters when you:

• have not landed on U.S. soil, and

• you have not taken on any people or goods while in foreign waters.

 

Commercial vessels cannot land except through special arrangement with CBSA.

Bateaux entrant au Canada au quai Welshpool

 

Si vous êtes le propriétaire ou l'exploitant d'un bateau privé transportant 29 personnes ou moins qui entre dans les eaux canadiennes doit signaler son arrivée à l'Agence des services frontaliers du Canada (ASFC). Vous pouvez rejoindre le Centre de déclaration par téléphone (CDT) Sans frais au 1-888-226-7277 (1-800-CANPASS). Il y a une cabine téléphonique au centre Welshpool.

 

Personne d'autre que le propriétaire ou l'exploitant ne peut quitter le bateau pour appeler le CDT. Tous les autres passagers doivent rester à bord du bateau jusqu'à ce que l'ASFC donne l'autorisation d'entrer au pays.

 

Des questions vous sont posées sur votre voyage, vos passagers et les biens que vous avez à déclarer, le cas échéant. Comme propriétaire ou exploitant du bateau, vous êtes le seul à pouvoir faire une déclaration au CDT. Vous devez recueillir les renseignements auprès de chaque passager et les transmettre au CDT.

 

Renseignements exigés pour les citoyens canadiens et les résidents permanents

• Nom au complet, date de naissance et citoyenneté ;

• Durée de l’absence du Canada ;

• Un des documents suivants :

  • passeport canadien valide;

  • permis de conduire Plus;

  • carte de résident permanent;

  • certificat sécurisé de statut d'Indien;

  • carte NEXUS;  

  • carte Expéditions rapides et sécuritaires (EXPRES) pour les citoyens canadiens.

Renseignements exigés pour les personnes ne résidant pas au Canada

·       Nom au complet, date de naissance et citoyenneté ;

• durée et but du séjour au Canada;

• destination;

• pièce d'identité acceptable (pour visiteur américain, cela inclus une preuve de citoyenneté et/ou de résidence permanente) et ;

• information fournie dans le visa, s'il y a lieu.

 

Déclaration depuis le bateau

Vous pouvez faire la déclaration au CDT de l'endroit où vous entrez dans les eaux canadiennes seulement si certaines conditions sont respectées. Tous les passagers doivent être citoyens ou résidents permanents du Canada ou des États-Unis.

Si vous visitez le Canada, vous pouvez faire la déclaration au CDT depuis le bateau en vous servant de votre cellulaire lorsque vous :

• n'avez pas l'intention de débarquer du bateau au Canada,

• ne laisserez aucune personne ou marchandise au pays.

Si vous revenez au Canada, vous pouvez faire la déclaration au CDT depuis le bateau lorsque vous :

• n'avez pas débarqué du bateau aux États-Unis,

• n'avez pris à bord aucune personne ou marchandise quand vous étiez dans des eaux étrangères.

 

Les bateaux commerciaux ne sont pas permis d’arrimer sauf si un arrangement a été fait au préalable avec l’ASFC.
